First Filming Task

Evaluation

What went well?

The story line achieved the task aim in terms of content and therefore I feel the actual outcome was successful. Furthermore, I believe the camera angles used, such as point of view, within the short film were effective in their portrayal and worked well with connecting the audience to the characters.

What didn't go so well?

The filming environment, with it being outside in a busy area, meant that there was a lot of unnecessary noise which had the potential to lessen the quality of the film and also to distract the viewer. In addition, the wind on that particular day was strong which caused the dialogue to become muffled meaning that long shots weren't able to be used as the sound wouldn't have been picked up by the video camera.

How could you improve it?

To improve the filming I would, now knowing how the weather can affect sound quality, chose an inside area free from noise. However, if it was necessary to shoot outside, I'd chose a day were the weather would suit the genre as well as a day where there was no wind unless it created an atmosphere that was required.
